Canton Symphony Orchestra: Intro to 2024-2025 MasterWorks Series

6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Perry Sippo Branch

Description

In his role as an Ambassador for the Canton Symphony Orchestra, M. J. Albacete will present an “Introduction to the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-2025 Masterworks Series”.

The CSO’s 2024-25 Masterworks series is a very rich and rewarding selection of symphonic masterworks covering a wide range of musical creativity, past and present.

The MasterWorks series serves as the cornerstone of the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s mission as a nonprofit performing arts organization. Delving into the expansive repertoire of orchestral music, we present a diverse array of traditional favorites, contemporary compositions, and pieces by overlooked or underappreciated composers from throughout history.

Classical music embodies a wealth of depth and diversity, spanning centuries, continents, and cultural landscapes. Within its vast tapestry, there are endless treasures waiting to be explored and appreciated. We extend a warm invitation for you to join us on this enriching musical journey! The program is free and open to the general public.

Some of the pieces that will be discussed are:

  • Symphony No. 1, “A Sea Symphony” by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams
  • Violin Concerto in G minor by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor
  • Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Major by Max Bruch
  • And  much more!
